CITY OF BLACKWELL, OKLAHOMA
 The Fire Department, with
approximately 16 employees, responds to fire, emergency medical and
various rescue calls. In a
given year, the department makes an average of 850 ambulance runs and
150 fire and rescue runs.
The department is part
of the Homeland Security Team and they are knowledgeable as a Hazard
Response Team. The department is also 1 of 20 departments in the state of
Oklahoma with a Regional Intermediate Response Unit. The Blackwell Fire Department works under the supervision of
the chief, Tom Beliel, 3 Deputy Chiefs, Steve Wayman, Dirk Seabridge and
Jim Backus, 3
Captains and 3 Lieutenants.

Tom
Beliel, serving as Fire Chief for 10 years, has been a member of the
department for 22 years. Tom
is also a member of the Blackwell Public Schools Board of Education.
He also belongs to various professional organizations such as the
Oklahoma Fire Chiefs Association, the Oklahoma Fire Fighters Association
and the National Committee for Fire Grant Review.
